The international female pilot organization, the Ninety-Nines, will host an aviation advocacy learning center at this year’s Wheels and Wings community celebration on September 10, 2016. The non-profit worldly organization has thousands of members reaching across 35 countries. Their mission is to promote the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight. The 99s learning center curriculum at Wheels and Wings will focus on educating our young aviatrixes on the basic forces of flight and future career opportunities in the aviation field.
Many famous female pilots standout among the 99 members, like Amelia Earhart, it’s first president in 1929. But a more recent (and local) famous member is Capt. Julie E. Clark, NWA (ret), who was inducted into the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame this year. Julie Clark has been flying for more than 45 years and has supported the 99s for decades. She shares her passion of flight through carefully choreographed airshows, including the two most popular in the Nation – EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Sun & Fun in Lakeland, Florida . . . and now Osceola Wheels and Wings in September!
Julie Clark is scheduled to perform with her T-34 Mentor at the Wheels and Wings airshow, but her favorite part of the day will be working with the 99s and welcoming all the burgeoning young aviatrixes into the 99s learning center.
Osceola Wheels and Wings invites all our young girls to participate in the 99s S.T.E.M. learning center and get an opportunity to meet a legendary female pilot and pioneer in advancing the careers of women in aviation.
